Why powder coat your plumbing fixture?

Stainless steel plumbing fixtures are designed to be exceedingly durable in environments anticipating high use and occasional abuse; however, their stainless steel finish is not always preferred. This is where powder coating can help you achieve durability while complementing your environment.

Willoughby Industries has an in-house powder coating area that allows you to purchase the durable stainless steel plumbing fixtures you are accustomed to receiving from Willoughby but in a wide selection of colors and finishes.

What is powder coat?

Willoughby Powder Coat BoothWilloughby powder coating is a smooth or textured hard coating that can endure impact, will not bubble, and is chip-resistant.

In preparation for the powder coat process, Willoughby blasts the plumbing fixtures with an aggressive media, followed by a water rinse and mineral spirit varnish to ensure maximum adhesion. The fixture is then sprayed with an electrostatically-charged powder that coats the entire exterior of the stainless steel fixture before being cured inside an oven in excess of 400°F. Before and after each step of the process, every fixture is meticulously inspected. During final inspection, a high-intensity LED light is used to detect flaws and ensure the highest quality finish, and product.

How should powder-coated plumbing fixtures be cleaned and maintained?

Willoughby’s powder coat finish creates a stunning surface easily cleaned, maintained, and sanitized. A solution of warm water and mild soap is all that is necessary.¹

What powder coat colors are available?

Willoughby’s standard powder coat colors² are below, but custom colors are also available. Contact us for more details.

¹Long exposure to sunlight may cause chalking; however, should this occur, use of a mild furniture wax will remove residue and restore the original luster. ²Physical color samples are recommended when making your final selection as colors above may vary from actual product color due to display or printer settings.
